Santacruz lives on services: travel agencies and cargo agents near the airport, hotels and restaurants towards Juhu, clinics and diagnostic centres serving the western suburbs, and colleges and coaching centres around the Kalina campus.
Travel agencies (class 39) often trade as "Holiday Tours" or "Sky Travels". Those names describe the service and are shared by hundreds of agencies, so they are hard to register and harder to enforce. An IATA accreditation or a government tourism recognition is a licence to operate; it gives no rights in the name.
Hotels (class 43) in Juhu register the hotel name for both rooms and restaurants, since class 43 covers accommodation and food service together.
Clinics and diagnostic centres (class 44) can register their names; a doctor's own name is registrable with a distinctive logo. Professional rules on advertising are separate from trademark law.
Institutes near Kalina (class 41) must not use a university's name or initials in a way that suggests an affiliation they do not have; the examiner and the university can both object.
Vile Parle businesses, from food makers to shops along the station road, follow the same route through the Mumbai registry.
Hotels and restaurants around Juhu, education brands near the Kalina campus, and fashion retailers.
Class 43
Food service; packaged sauces or snacks sold under the brand add Class 29 or 30.
Starting points only: the right classes depend on exactly what you sell. See the 45 trademark classes or search them in the class finder.
Day 1–2
We search the name in class 39, 43, 44 or 41 and count how many agencies, hotels or clinics already use its key words. Where the name is descriptive, we suggest how to make it registrable before you print.
Before filing
Clinics and institutes file in the name of the doctor, company or trust that runs them; trusts send their registration certificate. An IATA accreditation or medical registration is not needed for the application. The signatory signs Form TM-48 and returns a scan.
Filing day
We file Form TM-A online and send you the application number the same day. From then on the ™ symbol can appear on booking sites, room cards and clinic signboards.
After filing
If the examiner objects, we reply in writing and attend any hearing. An accepted mark is advertised in the Trade Marks Journal and is open to opposition for four months; if no one opposes, it registers for ten years from the application date.
Santacruz, Kalina and Juhu are in Mumbai Suburban district, so the Mumbai head office examines their applications. Show cause hearings may be held by video conference (rule 115).

No. Accreditation lets you issue tickets; only a trademark registration gives you rights in the name.
Class 43 covers both accommodation and restaurant services. Add class 41 if you also run events, and class 44 for spa treatments.
Yes. Vile Parle is in Mumbai, so its applications also go to the Trade Marks Registry, Mumbai.
Yes, in class 44 for dental services. A clinic name built on the dentist’s surname registers more easily with a distinctive logo.
Not in a way that suggests affiliation. It can mislead students, and both the examiner and the university can object.
