Information, not advice

The website explains intellectual property law and procedure in India and abroad in general terms. It is not legal advice for your situation. Whether a mark, invention, work or design can be protected, and how, depends on facts that only a review of your matter can establish. Please do not act, or refrain from acting, on the basis of the website alone.

No lawyer–client relationship

Using the website, sending a form, or contacting us by WhatsApp, phone or email does not by itself create a lawyer–client or agent–client relationship. An engagement begins only when the firm confirms the scope of work in writing and you accept it.

Accuracy and official fees

We write and review each page carefully and date it, but laws, rules, forms, fees and office practice change. Government fees shown on the website are taken from the official schedule on the date stated beside them; the fee payable is the one in force on the day of filing. Professional fees are quoted separately, in writing, for each matter.

No promise of outcome

Registration and grant decisions are made by the relevant IP office, and disputes are decided by the office or a court. No statement on the website is a promise that any application will be accepted, registered or granted, or of any particular timeline.

Calculators and finders on the website give general estimates from the information you enter. Check every result with a professional before relying on it for a deadline or a filing.

Use of website content

The text, illustrations and design of the website belong to GB Legal Associates unless stated otherwise. You may read, print and share pages for your own reference with a link to the source. You may not copy content to another website or republish it without written permission. The names and logos of government offices and other organisations belong to their owners and are used only to identify them.

We link to official sources such as ipindia.gov.in, copyright.gov.in and wipo.int so you can check the law and fees yourself. We are not responsible for the content or availability of other websites.
